I wonder why the moderators decide to let the insults directed at me stay.

Telling me that I am heavily medicated and should remain in a hospital is inappropriate.  This is not a safe place for me.

Hi there,
I was at my wits end a week or so ago and felt like I couldn't carry on anymore. I voluntarily took myself to my nearest A+E, explained what was going on and was seen by a psychiatrist. I was so convinced that I wasn't coming home that I only bought a ONE way bus ticket, thats how low I felt. The psych did reassure me that what I was feeling was just anxiety and severe depression but it has be one of the lowest, darkest points of my life. I think you have to be extremely low for them to admit you for anxiety but there is help there if you need it.

May as well chip in and say I was in hospital for over 2 months and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. They sorted my meds out for a start. In a safe way. I was hooked / addicted to xanax. No withdrawls at all. Off them in two days. I just felt so safe in there. The one I was in had everything. Library. Computer room. Pottery classes. Art classes. It had them all. Including group sessions. I will admit that before i went in I was sh!tting myself at the thought of a psych hospital. But how surprised I was. Met a lot of intelligent people. Made some great friends. Got my act together. Of all the fun we had I think crazy golf was the best. Apt name for a game in such a place. But they had a course out back in the gardens. We used to play daily. Ended up more like a holiday home. Which really surprised me. My concept of it was one thing in advance. The reality couldn't have been miles different. Was an amazing place and I would never be afraid to go back again. I would probably jump at the chance.

Hello Cuchculan,

Thank you for chiming in!!

I think the MOST IMPORTANT PART about this entire conversation is that IF SOMEONE FEELS THAT THEY SHOULD BE IN IN-PATIENT TREATMENT, then they should be!!

There were some awful things said to Door as she offered her advice to someone else who had posed a question.  When the post-er made some off the cuff comments to Door as a "he" and was corrected, he commented that  (knowing Door was a "she" made sense- and added a silly image) I myself felt like just because women here express themselves, then we are to be discounted for some reason for simply being female.

Door- I hope you are still around!!

I am appalled that  jasonibs9 was allowed to get away with what he said to Door.  In fact, it actually made me feel somewhat anxious.  To think that someone so insensitive could get away with this kind of abuse on an anxiety forum is unbelievably surprising and disconcerting.  I understand how Door would feel uncomfortable on a forum that would allow this.  I feel the same way.  This was not constructive it was destructive and certainly the person who initially posted the question may consider not getting the appropriate help because of this inexcusable dialogue from someone who hasn't had firsthand experience in a facility but only took the word of a friend.  At best, jasonibs9 should have couched his comments by saying that his friend didn't have a good experience but that was only the opinion of one person and not a personal experience of jasonibs9.  To try and scare someone who is already vulnerable in unconscionable.  Jasonibs9 not only badmouthed Door and tarnished her good experience, but those of us who are scared of going into the hospital and may need to sometime in the future.

I am fairly new here and this has given me a really bad impression as to how people and issues like this are screened.

Door, please don't think that everyone on this forum is unhelpful, that is the first person I have encountered on here who has been disrespectful etc and I have been visiting this forum for some months. There are some great people on here who offer fab support. If you need an advice then please message me, because believe me I have been rock bottom and am only just climbing up again so if you need any help let me know and I'll be happy to help.  :action-smiley-065:
