« on: April 30, 2010, 12:33:52 AM »
I can't even believe this year so far. Jan massive panic attack jan through march was positive I had MS.. MS cleared by MRI but dx'd with a small tear in artery and a small cyst of fluid inside spinal cord.
NOW... After just thinking my period was off because of stress I took 3 tests tonight all positive!!!
God promised he wouldn't give me more than I can handle and this feels like WAY more than I can handle. Not to mention that I have a great career I have worked very hard for and my boss is going to FREAK I am in Sales and obviously a panicking pregnant girl worring about a torn artery and hyperventalating can't Sale anything... I don't believe in abortion but I am terrified that the hormone influx is also going to influx my panic except now I won't be able to take my faith full zanax... Sorry guys I just can't even tell my best friends or family about this because I am freaking out...

Dear Grateful

Do you have a partner that you can talk about the pregnancy with? If not, a trusted family member or friend? For what it is worth, when I was pregnant, I had no anxiety whatsoever...none...I think it was the only 40 weeks in my adult life when I have had no anxiety...maybe you will feel ok? Your mind might be so preoccupied with your pregnancy that you won't feel so anxious. Is there some part of you that is happy about the pregnancy? I was once told that you are given the tools to handle what life throws at you...and I do believe this when I'm not anxious but I do understand how tricky it is to be calm about it when you are anxious. You probably need to go to the doctor to confirm your pregnancy and alleviate your health fears re your tear etc..

Know you are strong and YOU CAN HANDLE THIS!!!! LEt us know how you get along

Try not to freak out! It will work out!

I am like Hoov- pregnancy was the only time in my life I had NO anxiety. I was soooo calm and happy (once I got over the initial shock; mine was unplanned as well). I agree to just go the doc and have your fears alleved just a bit.

Thanks guys! As tired as I am I can't sleep at all. Yes, my husband is very supportive but doesn't at all understand my anxiety. I'm sxld to see the neuro surgeon on may 14'th so I guess I will just have to wait and see what he says.

I guess a baby is always a blessing and after I get over this shock I'm sure I will be happy. Oh did I mention I am 34 and already have 4... I had my first at 14 and she is going to be 20 this year. I married my high school sweetheart (her dad) and we had 3 more the youngest is 8.

I am sooooo glad to hear there was no anxiety. This is also new for me since January.
Thanks again I can't tell you how much the support here means to me:)

Glad to hear your hubby is supportive! I bet you will feel better once it's sunk in a little. You'll feel better after getting the OK from the doc as well. :)

First of all CONGRATULATIONS.  Babies are wonderful little things even if they are not planned.  I do understand the shock of it all though.  My last two--my 5th and 6th, were completely and utter shocks.  I had my 5th at 37 and 6th at 39.  Once we got over the shock, it was fine.  Give yourself some time to take it all in.  You'll be happy with it before too long.   Being 34 and preggers is no biggie

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I also remember no anxiety during any of my three pregnancies. Hopefully it will be the same for you. Try to think of it as an exciting time!!! I agree with what everyone else says!!! Maybe once it sinks in and you think more about the baby things will go more smoothly!!! Definitely let us now how it goes!!!

I too felt no anxiety during my pregnancies.  I suffered from anxiety before I got pregnant and my anxiety would creep back about 2 months after the baby came.  But during my pregnancies I felt great - even forgoing much of the prenatal testing because I was sure the babies would be healthy (and this from a hypochondriac!)  Note that even if you feel more anxiety in the first trimester don't get worried that it will last the whole pregnancy.  I know lots of people that were anxious in their first trimester only to feel great in the 2nd & 3rd.  Good luck!  And Congratulations!

I have the normal worries a pg mom has with pregnancies.  I've had my worst anxiety episodes after the babes are born but not with all of them.

Hey hon. :) Congratulations! I'm 12wks pregnanct with my 5th. No sweat.  :)  I have had anxiety issues the first 9wks though. I'm almost through.  How far along are you? Possibly the pregnancy hormones could have kick started it. But it doesn't last forever... I was pretty bad for a while there but pretty much back to normal now. Kinda followed the same timetable as my morning sickness.

Hey JoJo- thanks I guess other people have 5 too... Haha. I think I'm only 5 weeks. Yep 12 weeks is that magic number. I'm not looking forward too morning sickness and that's what I fear that it will make my anxiety kick in. Right now I just have monster headaches which I've never had before but I am also weening off zoloft and I have a small tear in my artery. I do sort of feel protected in a strange way though and also that I'm not alone which is calming. I'm glad you are feeling better:)
