Anxiety-related head problems?
« on: January 09, 2007, 03:37:16 PM »
I posted a msg on here a few days ago because of a lingering headache (thanks to everyone who replied, by the way!). The more it lingers, the more it doesn't seem to be a headache. It's more like a heavy, foggy head all the time. And a feeling that my whole head is very delicate. Like a hangover type-feeling (a mild one). In particular at the back of my head.

I've noticed a lot of people with anxiety-based symptoms have complained of the same kind of problem. I guess I'm hoping to hear from someone who's had similar symptoms, and maybe if they found something that's helped.

I've never taken any medication for my anxiety, but the more symptoms I develop, and the more it impacts my life, the more likely it seems to be the only solution left. It gets pretty miserable having symptom after symptom, and knowing they're kind of self-induced. I'm sure many of you know the desperate feeling!

Well I don't know if I have what you have per say... But I'll describe to you the head feelings I get. Almost everyday I get really bad sinus headaches, my ears will be somewhat throbing.. On other days I feel this weird sensation on the back of my head, it almost feels like it's in my skull, that happens maybe 3 times per week And ocasionaly I'll get a headache were the sides of my head hurts, like the muscles on the side. That's pretty much all the headaches I get.

I understand what you mean about the foggy head like a mild hangover.  I have suffered with that for the last 4 years.  Its worse first thing in the morning I have actually taken paracetamol before now and they have worked.  My doctor told me its a tension headache on account of me being so anxious and stressed all the time.  I started on lexapro 4 weeks ago and the foggy head has gone so I suppose he was right. :winking0008:

I was told that this was from all the tension in my shoulders. It feels as if I just can't hold up my head and I have this constant "pressure like" pain in it. Sometimes it feels like the top of my head just needs to be cut off! Its not a bad enough headache to be rushed to the doc but it just lingers. I take muscle relaxer and it seems to help me relax my muscles! I also have twitching in my muscles around my shoulder blades (front and back) and throughout my neck. Its just tension! Now if the back of my head starts hurting then I know I'm getting a sinus headache and I have to go to the doc.
