hi all, i was very ill three months ago with severe postnatal depression, severe pure o, and health anxiety to the extent of i thought i was already dead?!?!? I wasnt physchotic and have read since that this is a severe form of health anxiety, i hadnt eaten for a month, was violently vomiting as i didnt realise that the thoughts i were having were ocd, very scary

I ended up nearly being hospitilised, as i was pretty suicidal :( i was so agitated i was given two doses of seroquel (50mg each time), to sedate and wind down the agitation,30mg mirtazapine at night and 30mg citalopram in the morn

I am 3 months down and the depression has diminshed, i am healthy and have put on 2 stone (needed it as was below 8stone and am 5 foot 7).

OCD is getting much more under control, although symptoms still occur on and off, and anxiety in the main is MUCH BETTER FOR SURE.

My CPN wants me to wean the seroquel, i am thinking it is too early in the recovery process from being so ill, and also read someone on here went through hell reducing it?  This combo of meds works for me, so when do u say, ok i want to wean? I have refused, when will the "right" time be? anyone used these for ocd or severe anxiety? I hav had no side effects except weight gain and sweati

anyone weaned, and how long were u on the seroquel? what was thre right time and how did u know? the cpn said the seroquel wont be doing anything now as the other 2 antidepressants should have been activated by it and be controlling my ocd

a, scared of relapse! anyone? help? how did withdrawal go for you>?

thanks

In my opinion, only you can determine when it's time to wean off. If you don't feel you're ready then do not let a doctor force you to wean. With that said, there are non-medicinal methods of dealing with anxiety and OCD, so you may not necessarily need to be "fully recovered" before you wean, as long as you have another method for managing the anxiety and OCD.

I have never taken Seroquel, but I did take Luvox for very mild OCD, which is an SSRI, not an anti-psychotic. For SSRI weaning the recommended taper schedule is 5%-10% of current dose every 3 to 4 weeks, or as long as it takes to stabilize in between drops. I don't know if anti-psychotic drugs are weaned the same or not.

Hi-

I took Seroquel for sleep when I was withdrawing off Xanax. I flat couldn't sleep and Seroquel helped me to do just that. I was on 100mg of Seroquel for 2 months. I weaned off it by dropping down 25mg a week. When I got down to 25mg, I started to get some increased anxiety. So, I stayed at 25 for a week then dropped to 12.5 for another week. I think my anxiety increased any time I dropped below 12.5 so, I just bit the bullet and stopped after one week at 12.5mg and had about four days of increased anxiety. The anxiety then dropped back down to normal. I haven't been on it for 2 months now.

It wasn't too bad.
