Problem.
« on: January 06, 2007, 04:45:03 PM »
Hello everyone.

I didn't know who else to turn to, because I didn't want to come off as crazy. So I am elated to have found this site!! I have been having problems lately with sadness. Though, the problem is, I have no reason to be sad. Or that's what I thought. It seems like the longer I sit by myself, without anyone around, the more I think about the problems that I have, and the sadder I become. I don't quite know what triggers this emotional roller coaster. I have my good days, where I can go almost the entire day without being sad or anxiety filled. I am constantly beating myself up, thinking I'm not good enough. My self image is totally blown.  :sad0147: I used to actually like the way I looked, felt, and the way I handled things, now I hate pretty much everything about myself. What can I do to combat these feelings of worthlessness, sadness and anxiety??

Help!!  :sign0171:

My heart aches for you.  Depression is an awful thing to deal with and can make you feel so incompetant and sad.

What steps have you taken so far?  Have you talked to your doctor about these feelings?  Have you been on any meds or gone thru any therapy?

I have actually never been to a doctor, I haven't been to therapy, and I haven't ever had meds.
My Parents say that it's just me being a teenager and worrying about things that I need not be worrying about. They say that it's all in my head.  :sad0125:

The number one thing that works for me is just remembering to breathe. But that will only work for so long.

Hey there  :action-smiley-065: Wouldnt it be so much easier if we could just 'snap out of it'!!  If only!!  Hey I think you are doing really great especially since you are identifying when your mood is on the downslide.  Depression is awful and up and down moods will have a connection to your age and hormones. However, its unfair to just explain it away as that.  I am glad you have found this site.  You asked the million dollar question how do we lift our feelings of anxiety and depression.  I dont know if I did I would bottle it sell it and be a millionaire lol.   I do know the answers are inside and meds and therapy can help as can finding our own coping strategies like your breathing exercise.  And you dont need a reason to feel sad!! I hpe you find comfort and suport here

Thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot to someone who doesn't really have anyone else to explain this to.

I've tried explaining it to friends, but they don't really understand it, because they haven't been through it. But I don't hold it against them, because you can't really understand until you've been there.

But thank you so much, again!!!
