I was getting these after an attack 3 weeks ago.  They were more of an annoyance.  That is, until yesterday, out of the blue when I got 4 jolts/waves of adrenaline in a small frame of time.  I didn't panic b/c I knew what was happening but my heart rate/pulse was going off the rails.  I tried to fight through it but my body wouldn't really cooperate, got super dizzy and had to take a propranolol.

Tomorrow I'm starting to take a low dose of Celexa.

I get these all the time when I'm trying to fall asleep. You're not alone.

does anyone else get jolts of panic? Like you are sitting having a conversation and in a good mood and then BAM it's like a 1-2 second jolt just went through your head, sometimes your entire body? like a quick adrenaline rush? It goes away after 1-2 seconds and feels really strange.. i usually feel panicky after it happens because it scares me. Please respond... need reassurance.

Hello! I get them all the time! It is a wake up call. I take xanax for my panic disorder and often if I go too long without taking it, I will get a quick zap (that is what I call it). Sometimes I just get them for no apparent reason. You are most certainly NOT alone. I have had these things for 23 years and have always gotten them. Stay strong.

I want to comment about the jolts we get when we are falling asleep.  Not the instant panic shocks we feel while we are awake.  You lie down, all nice and tired.  Close your eyes and begin to drift off to sleep, then WHAM! for a second, it feels like you just fell 10 feet.  That's not anxiety.  It's the little bubble in your cochlea in your inner ear, moving.  Sometimes when we lie down, that little bubble gets stuck.  When it becomes dislodged, it feels like you're falling, but just for a moment.  It's nothing to be concerned about.  It happens to each and every human alive at one time or another.  As for the instant panic we feel while we are awake and alert, I have no idea.

It is so reassuring to see so many go through the same thing as i do for the last 2 years.

I started having panic attacks 3 years ago and then started the medications and more anxiety and panic attacks and before you know it , this becomes a daily way of life. I have completely forgotten what it was like to be normal , to be free of worries or any anxiety , to do what you feel like and whenever you feel like.

These days i am constantly worried about feelings dizzy , feeling off balance , anxious all the time and going from one doc to another.

I have gone to 3 neurologists , an ENT specialist , a psychiatrist in the last two years and numerous trips to the Hospital. My Psychiatric keeps telling me not to get anxious and stay calm , but when you feel nauseating and dizzy its difficult to remain calm.

The feeling of anxiety has overtaken my career and my personal life completely , I wish i could return to what i was before my first panic attack.

Panic jolts anyone? - Oh yes! They happen to me usually when I'm in conversation with someone, especially when the other person is rattling away and I feel I have to maintain eye contact (job interviews are a prime example). As you say it's just a second or so; but I sometimes have a split second immediately afterwards when I feel 'unreal' and even wonder where I am.
It is so reassuring to know that it's not just me that has these strange episodes. Between us on this forum we can support one another and never feel that we are alone. I love the internet for being able to bring people together.  :action-smiley-065:
