Hi CrazyStress,

As my mental health suffers my memory becomes very poor.  I have had memory problems throughout the last 3 years during which time my mental health has been quite disabling. I asked my psychiatrist about this and he said that it is the mind's normal reaction to having so much stress i.e. if you are focussed on your anxiety then you have less ability to remember.  He also suggested that when we have a hard time with our mental health our mind does not want to remember so we forgot some things selectively without meaning to.

I would not worry about it too much.

Just mentioned fatigue as pronounced fatigue affects memory, partic. short-term memory. e.g. look up symptoms of CFS.

cheers

As the years go by my short term memory gets worse and worse.  I wonder if its the anxiety or the meds...or a combo of the two.  I also wonder if when I finally start to get better and find a cure for my anxiety if my memory will get better again.

For now I make fun of it...what else can I do.  I'll be talking about something and mid sentence my mind will go blank.  I laugh and say" Yep..its gone. Never mind"  and the cool thing is my family and friends understand and laugh with me.
