Hypnotherapy for my yearly issues
« on: March 10, 2010, 06:47:34 AM »
I have not really posted about myself for some time.  I realized though, that the last time I did was around this time last year.  Every year, as spring comes closer, I start to feel frantic.  My GP actually noticed this last year, before I put it together.  I have quit several jobs as spring came around, most of the time just walking out on them without notice.

As a refresher about me, let me say I am a full time student, 50+ hour a week manager of a pizza place, and a mother of three (2 teenagers and a toddler).  Feeling like my life is spinning out of control every spring makes it very difficult to keep up with all 3 of my roles, but last year I managed to keep hold of my job, and still get through my classes.  I think my husband and my instructor received the brunt of my anxiety last year.

This year, my GP and I had a plan in place.  We are trying out some anticonvulsant medicines that are also supposed to help mood.  So far I am on my second one, no luck yet.  My GP, who is a caring, compassionate doctor, asked me if something might have happened to me in the spring as a child.  I really have little memory of my childhood; I moved out on my own at the age of 16.  This started me down another path, probably because I feel so frantic right now that I feel ready to try anything.

In 3 weeks, I have an appointment to see a hypnotherapist.  He is a psychiatrist who specializes in this field.  He is reputable, and I did a lot of research before making an appointment with him.  I am, however, scared.

I was wondering if anyone here has tried hypnotherapy?  If so, would you be willing to share any parts of your experience with me?
