Guys Im sorry but another reassurance thread.

Im slowly figthing my anxiety and ocd but the other day I heard that OCD sufferers can have access to certain truth/ future psychic visions beacuse of their brain chemistry. This scared the hell out of me as ive had scary images as it is and dont want to be a psychic!

I read it on a forum and it was not fact or anything  but i got scared naturally.

Is it normal for anxiety and ocd sufferers to have such thoughts like that?

yes people with anxiety do this.  I do this.  Even people with out anxiety will do this.  Our minds do this.  You are not psychic.  You have an overanxious, worried mind doing this to you.  While this may be hard for you to believe, it is true.  You are not psychic.

Yesterday I had the horrible thought of my eldest falling down the stairs.  I caught my breath over it.  I've had thoughts come to me of our gas well blowing up because we have a small leak in it (we've been told that it won't happen but....) Our eldest is disabled.  She has numerous issues.  We can't fix her but I have thoughts (or visions) of us being accused of neglecting her medical needs.  And we obviously don't neglect her. We have the med bills to prove it  :winking0008:.  This comes from my fear of not being highly responsible and me wanting to solve every problem I come across.  I have numerous other examples  and given time I could list for hours.

When you have a fear (like the one we spoke of in chat) whether it is running rampant in your mind OR it is just a slightly simmering thoughts waaaaaaay in the back of your mind, your brain can throw some pretty bizarre thoughts at you.

Peace you need to find some peace here.  Have you considered talking to a therapist---md or ph.d?

DON'T ever let anxiety define who you are.  You are NOT anxiety.

Sixpack,

I can really relate.  I have horrible fears about my kids getting hurt.  It scares the living piss out of me and then I determine whether the fear is rational or not.  For instance, yesterday I was at the top of the stairs and my wife had left a lighter sitting on the railing from burning incense.  Anyway, either of my kids ages 2 and 4 can reach the ledge and all I could think about and even see in my head was my children on fire.  It disturbed me to the bone.  I decided it was a relatively rational fear, although, probably in excess, but I removed the lighter anyway.  LOL.

Maybe OCD is a good think?
