Chronic Hives Due To Anxiety And Stress
« on: January 08, 2006, 10:20:40 PM »
I have been suffering from chronic hives for two years in March. My doctor has narrowed it down to stress and anxiety. I am on the highest dose of Effexor (300mg) daily. I am still finding myself getting daily hives, not as bad as I used to get them mind you. I am just feeling as though I am running out of options and patience. Once every two or three months I experience really bad days when I'm covered in hives, the only other medication that works is Benadryl. I have tried all other antihistamines and they make matters worse. Does anyone have any suggestions or helpful advice.

I don't really know about hives from anxiety but I believe you and your doctor, anxiety can do the stupidest things.

I found a chart of anti-depressions, different classes work in different parts of the brain. this lets you know which ones belong to what group and may help you see why some things work better than others and may also give you alternatives for what may work better than you.  I can't remember where I found it but my psycologist has a copy.

On jan 12 I will be seeing my psycologist.  I will get this back and try to post it asap

I found this while I was researching my new medication, maybe you can ask your doctor about it...

Itching with hives due to cold temperature exposure (doxepin)

Doxepin may help you?  it says it is an anitdepressant.
