Hello,

My idea is simple. To make a kind of database, filled by some questions answered by members, about each antidepressant (because they are the most used for anxiety/depression) looking like this:
- Paxil: worked for you? (yes/no radio button) Side effects: (side effect list, checkboxes)
- Zoloft: same questions
- etc, for all the list.

Now why. What's the use of this. It will allow several things: we will be able to see if some are more useful than others, if some tend to have more side effects than others, and the most interesting: to discover if there is a kind of polarity between meds. I explain with an example:
- Person X: can't tolerate med A and B, but it works for C
- Person Y: can't tolerate med C, but it works for A and B
- Person Z: tried A and it was horrible. The theory is: should avoid B and try C
It really seems to exist a kind of polarity. If I'm not wrong, it could help a lot of people to avoid meds that could be horrible and try a good one or one with better chances. If I'm wrong, and the stuff is more random or much more complex, we will at least learn this, and the data will still help people to know that they are not alone feeling bad on a med, not alone to have the same effects, and will learn that for one person, some meds are bad, but there is one at least working.

It could be a simple php thing, with a place to see the results. I don't know if there are some php and mysql around, and programmers. I'm amateur myself in those things but I played some time with those and I think I could do something if no one can or have the time. If you have a comment, throw it.

The idea started on this thread: http://www.anxietyzone.com/index.php/topic,21392.msg128888.html#msg128888

There is a website... askapatient.com where people can go on and rate their experiences with the quality of a particular medication, any side effects and other comments and the results can be filtered by age, gender or duration of use. WebMD also allows people to leave comments regarding their experiences with various meds, but I've found that the askapatient.com site is a little more user friendly and allows people to go a little more in depth about their experiences and circumstances leading up to going onto a certain drug.
