Ear Question
« on: December 08, 2006, 03:39:48 PM »
Hi,

It feels like something is in my ear... like, if I wiggle my one ear, it feels like somethings in it?  Has anyone had this?   I did (ofcourse) have the ENT look in my ear when I was there for the node, and he said my eardrum looked fine and healthy.... well, then what the heck is this??

I've been to an ENT back in June for my ear too.  My left ear will feel like there's something in it.....drives me nuts!  If the ear feels full 9 out of 10 my head also feels loopy on the left side. I never have it on the right. Then my thoughts go wild.  I can go days with out it and then it will come back for awhile.  ENT says my ear is perfect and super clean. Then why does it feel like there is fluid in it???? He thought maybe, the nerve that connects the nasal passage to ear might get inflamed from an allergy and it gives the full feeling.  He gave me Nasonex and sent me home.  I have never had allergies and the stuff doesn't work.  Let me know if ya figure it out!

Hey there,

I had the exact same experience about a month ago.  It felt like my ear was "plugged up" . . .  kind of like how it is when you have a cold, but worse. . .  like someone stuffed Kleenex in there.  Went to the doc. and he said it was fine, "all clear".  Well, being a hypochondriac that wasn't good enough, so I persisted and eventually he prescribed me some ear medicine - which didn't work.  I also tried Nasonex and Afrin and that didn't work either - in fact it made my throat hurt.  My ear is fine now; it kind of resolved on its own.  Maybe yours will do the same. . .

Ear fullness is a sign of TMJ. Do you grind or clench your teeth? Does your jaw click when you open it? I have had TMJ for a VERY long time, and ear fullness (and ear itching!) are signs of it. Actually, TMJ causes many symptoms that are fuel for hypocondriacs.

I agree somewhat with the tmj dx.  muscle tension in your neck and shoulder can also affect your ears.  I have had problems with muscle tension in my neck and my shoulders. If I turn my head I can actually feel it pull on my ear.  and of course, my muscle tension comes from our favorite friend, anxiety...  >:(  As does tmj...

I think you will be o.k.

Ok, phew, at least I'm not the only one experiencing this!  I was about to ask the dr for some more testing!! But they are specialists, I guess they would know if it was something more serious.  It's just annoying!! And I've never had ear problems before!!!  I am under a lot of stress though right now with my lymphoma fears spiraling out of control now an again... Thanks everyone!

This is all too familiar!  Isn't is amazing how much we wish we had something like TMJ?
