Being "perfect" is a loser's game
« on: December 26, 2009, 11:10:40 AM »
I spent years trying to be what everyone wanted me to be. Problem was: the goal posts (people's expectations/my expectations)....kept shifting. Eventually I got too tired, too frustratated, too angry to play that game anymore.  I realised there was just five important questions I needed to ask of myself:
1.    Whose life is this, anyway?
2.    What are my special gifts/talents/qualities?
3.    Am I living them or denying them, just to please others?
4.    What risks do I need to take to achieve my potential?
5.    What challenges do I need to overcome to be THE BEST I CAN BE?

If you look deeply into these questions, you might discover (as I did) that the major obstacle is you or me.
Just a thought worth pondering.

this is a great message to put out there.i think alot of the time we are too fixated on pleasing others and being who we think people will accept.being true to yourself, pushing yourself to reach your potential, without feeling negative  about yourself when you fall short, are all thoughts we should keep in mind.

Great Post

I agree, we spend too much time worrying about what other people think. It got so bad for me that I had trouble going to the mall or movies. Now I am confidant that most people have other things on their minds and not me. I will just be another face in the crowd. Sure I am a little overweight, have mild acne (still) and am short but I have developed a f*** it attitude towards people's perception of me.
