clenazopam, desipramine and effexor have worked at different times in my life.

Effexor worked well until my hystorectomy and my horemones changed.

Whatever you choose to use try "behaviour therapy" on top of the meds...I have been still struggling with anxiety daily but I have been Panic attack free for 2 years.

Still workin and hoping everyone can become panic free!!

GOOD LUCK

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. My name is Renee and I have been dealing with severe anxiety and panic for about 6 years now. About two years ago I had a lot of problems hit me all at once and my anxiety just completely took over. It took me months to finally get outside of my house, and then when I finally did, I couldn't drive my car, or go out with friends, or anything in a normal context anymore. It's so frustrating and I have been trying absolutely everything to (at the very least!) take the edge off. A few months ago I read that a lot of anxiety can be curbed, so to speak, with magnesium. The article talked about the fact that most people actually have a magnesium deficiency, and that in some people it can trigger anxiety. Well, I decided to look around and I finally found a natural product (none of those synthetic things) that had both magnesium and B-6 (which I also swear by) and since I started incorporating the magnesium, I have definitely been feeling MUCH better. The product I use now is from Hale Vitamins. The vitamin I bought is called Relaxation support.

I am curious if anyone else has heard of this magnesium deficiency thing? I am quite well aware that sometimes I am capable of (as much as I hate to admit this) being a bit naive... it seems like it's working but I'd love feedback from anyone else who has or is willing to give it a shot with me.

Thanks and I hope to hear from some of you soon!

Hi Renee, I'm new here too.  I'm happy to hear that the vitamins are making you feel better.  I have a severe case of panic disorder and it took me a year to finally get something to help me out.  During this time of trial and error, I had gone to a Naturopath Doctor and spent hundreds of dollars there, but nothing worked for me.  I also heard about the magnesium deficiency that panic victims have.  I also heard that it is also an iron and zinc deficiency.  I tried all three, but none of these worked for me either.  I was trying everything to not have to go on prescription meds.  I tried some chinese medicines that calm you.  I felt the calming effects, but the attacks were still going on while my brain was feeling tired from the pills.  I went to a certified Chinese Doctor who said she could help me with chinese medicine from china along with accupuncture.  I spent a lot of money here also and that didn't help either.  The anti-depressants made my symptoms worse.  I found a doctor that specialized in panic disorder, and he strongly recommened Clonazepam.  I have been on that drug for 10 years now (1mg 2x per day) and have only had one break-through.  I can feel the odd attack trying to get through, but the drug keeps it at bay.

It's nice to be able to talk to others that have been through the same thing because nobody else seems to really understand this disorder, and the attacks are too horrifying for words when trying to describe it.  Unless someone has been through an attack, they will never have any idea how bad they truly are.

Good luck with your vitamins.  If that's all you need, then you are truly lucky.
