OCD-depression
« on: December 27, 2005, 07:38:23 PM »
It is so hard to be happy without my Zoloft which effect I keep interrupting by forgetting to take them daily.
I have OCD and I am wondering if anyone else have OCD-depression? :dazed: ::)
I just find everything so boring, pointless, nauseating. Well except for rigorous studying of science but I lack assiduity so I end up feeling a lot of guilt.
I keep initiating thoughts about me by others until I quickly remember that I can not know what others are thinking. Its weird for the longest time I actually thought there was a loophole too that.
Though I’ve never lasted on that pill long enough, for a long term affect, I felt the effect once and it was like elevating to a new plane of lasting happiness that was earlier inaccessible.
Thanks for reading my letter/ rara.

I suffer from similar symptoms and currently just started taking ZOLOFT. I have a friend who suffers from OCD and it makes like 100x harder for her. She is on meds as well and it takes alot of the hassle away. Hope all is well!

I'm sorry to hear you feel like that, I know depression is tough. For me, my depression was a natural progression from OCD I think. The disorder in itself hardly makes you feel great as it is.

Ive been off and on Zoloft in the past, and I always remember having a hard time when I came off. They tell you all this stuff about possible withdrawal symptoms in the first few weeks of coming off it, but they dont tell you how it juggles with your emotions for a long time after. It might be that you're body and mind needs time to adjust before you feel better. I never realized how powerful Zoloft actually was until I was on it a long time and then stopped.

Why do you stop taking Zoloft if it works?

Hey GMan

Because in the long run, it always seems to have other effects on me. It does a good job of controlling my OCD, but sometimes the side effects of it I find unbearable. I guess Im just one of the people that reacts to it that way.

Apart form that, I had a serious drinking problem (ok, I was alcoholic) and whenever I take Zoloft, it seems to give me this wierd craving to drink. When Im off of the drug, I never touch a drop. From all Ive heard about it, some others with drink addictions have experienced the same thing. Maybe its the drug, maybe its us, but I'd rather not take the risk and start boozing again.

Chack out this chart:  http://www.anxietyzone.com/index.php/topic,223.0.html

Maybe if the zoloft worked, another drug from the same group will have less wierd side effects?

Thanks Apple and GMan  :happy0151:

Im currently seeing how I go without meds. Im currently in CBT and doing pretty well without them, and if I can manage on my own, that'll be great, but if I do find things going down hill I'll look into other meds.
