Head starts spinning when lying down
« on: December 15, 2009, 07:32:17 AM »
it's the first time I have this, I think. I also feel nausea. I've been told it could be an ear infection and that makes some sense because yesterday I used an old earbud to listen to music.

any of you ever had this and what was it? I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep tonight

I've only ever had this feeling once - it was several years ago (like 4 or so).  I woke up in the morning with this feeling.  It really disturbed me at the time, but thankfully, I've not had the feeling since then.  It can have a host of totally benign causes, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.  Well, that's not true - I would be, but that doesn't mean that I should be!   :winking0008:

I'll give you an example of something similar.  The other day I had been on the phone with my mother for about 45 minutes to an hour, and I had been pacing around the entire time looking down for most of it.  When I finally got off, I had stopped for a second somewhere, and the floor looked like it was moving.  I started to kind of freak out, but it stopped shortly thereafter, and I realized it had been from the fact that I had been walking and looking down for so long.  So even something as simple as that can cause weird things.  Sinus issues and other things of that nature can definitely cause this as well.  Just try to relax, and if it keeps happening go to the doctor and they'll probably tell you there's something ear or sinus related, and it will be gone soon.  :)

that's how it happend to me. I woke up today feeling this and it was disturbing and I didn't go back to sleep. I'm feeling better now so hopefully I won't have to deal with this when trying to sleep today.

Could be an ear infection, but if you're feeling better, it could also be something like positional vertigo. Both are harmless and can be fixed with dramamine or meclazine. If it's an infection, you might also need antibiotics and a decongestant. (I've had both in the past - it feels awful!)
