Im sure I'm dying
« on: December 25, 2005, 10:25:11 AM »
Here is my list of real medical problems:  I've had a vaginal yeast infection for 6 months that no treatments work for.  I also have a rash on my rear-end.  So I go trolling on the internet, which is the worst thing to do.  I now have leukemia.  Unexplained rash and infections.

I also have melanoma because my Dad just did.  My mole itches.  What else, oh, I have a heart defect and breast cancer.

Why cant I just enjoy life?

How do I stop this cycle?  Once I go to all the doctors, something else starts.  I'm so tired of it all!

This is the first time I have been on here, and your post is the first I have read. Your post sounds EXACTLY like me. I have breast cancer, lung cancer, heart attack, stomach cancer, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, etc. It goes from one illness to the other. One real thing I do have is insomnia. I am a worrier by nature but it is now into full blown panic. The thought of living like this is hell. I know it has to be able to get better.

Hi, to my new best friend!  Finally someone understands me!  My anxiety gets so bad that my blood pressure goes way up anytime I go to a doctor.  I've tried Xanax before an appointment, but it doesnt help.
Have you found anything to help you with this?  Mine also gets bad if one of my kids gets sick.

I have an idea for a coping mechanism..... come to this site and read about others like yourself....it JUST pulled me out of a frenzy over my health.  Ok, well maybe not that quickly, but you can't imagine (or maybe you can) how GREAT it feels to hear other people have the same fears, uncontrollable thoughts, racing thoughts, and ever changing self diagnosis, as you do.  I JUST WANT TO ENJOY TODAY, TOMORROW, and so forth WITHOUT WORRYING OF IT WILL BE MY LAST!!  I wish the thoughts would stop, at this point I can't even have a cramp in my pinky toe without immediately considering the worse... you know, it must be a blood clot forming and getting ready to travel up my leg to my heart.  Or better yet, it's bone cancer, I mean what else can it be, there isn't anything but bone in my pinky toe, RIGHT?  God forbid when the time of year comes before my female annual, why go, I've already convinced myself that my cervix cells mutated right after my last exam and have developed into cancer over the course of the last year.  And my blood pressure..... it's good, when I'm home... take me to the doctor, it sky rockets and they immediately freak out... what do you think that does to people like you and me??? Yep, I might as well stroke right there.  You'd think they would know better.  And then, they think I should be relaxed by the end of the appointment enough that my blood pressure should come down... well sure it does...it drops from 150/110 to 140/100...... yeah, they don't like that very well.  So I pull out my journal of blood pressure readings, that I have obsessed over taking at home for days (sometimes weeks) prior to my appointment..... and thank goodness they are within normal range, although I'm sure they think I'm lying.....it's embarassing when your argument to your honesty is based on the fact that you are a hypochondriac, or fear every ailment out there, and TRUST me, if my blood pressure was always that high don't you think I'd be the FIRST to let you know??? OUT OF FEAR???

This may sound comical, as that is my way to make light of my very serious problem.  But it's just as serious as all of yours.  I'm looking for POSITIVE ways to move forward from this and learn to enjoy life without thinking I'm going to die tomorrow.  Normal people don't worry about these things.  Normal people look to their future and actually think they will have one.  This is so sad.  And I'm not a depressing person in general... I love life.  I look forward to working through this with all of you.  Thanks for stepping out there and sharing... thank god for the internets anonymity, however, stay away from the medical jargan!!! scary!   :)

For the yeast infections, have you tried acidopholus? That has worked for me in the past.

As for how to stop the cycle? I don't know....if you figure that out, tell me. Recently, I have gone from Throat Cancer to Ovarian Cancer to Breast Cancer....oh...and some kind of a tumor on my back. I am positively miserable!!!!

I feel like i have throat cancer too! ( im sure its my hypochondria) -or at least hope, and assume, since i constantly have something coming or going. I have on/off hoarsenss, and a feeling of a "tired" voice -its really just a discomfort inm y neck/throat area, that comes and goes, and seems to be there even when i am resting my voice. sometimes its gone. what made you guys think you had throat cancer, and did the symptoms eventually go away? please write back-Athina

Ok when i thought that i has throat cancer,...i was able to feel a lymph node while having a really bad sore throat. I ended up just having a cold. YOU DONT HAVE THROAT CANCER I PROMISE. Dont freak yourself out like i did. Cancer spreads quickly in the throat so you would have many more symptoms than that by now. I hope this helps.

OK, well...we are ALL in the same boat. That is what this board is good for, helping us to see that everyone else is so worried about things that we can clearly see are HA and so MAYBE we aren't dying either. Hang in there, there are good days ahead...I still am in a bad place again, but better than yesterday at least. It gets better and worse..and every changing symptom knocks me back to panic. Keep on fighting, and you will get stronger!

I don't know about the yeast infection, because I don't get them (crosses fingers that I didnt just jinx myself) but I know someone who does. What she does is eat LOTS of yougurt, take a strong probiotic, wear only white cotton underthings, gets a monistat pack and uses it, doesn't eat any sugar at ALL or white processed foods(bread, pasta, etc), and takes zinc and some other vitamin (c, d, i forget sorry??) and is very strict on all of that. It goes away for her. Matter of fact I think she must be pretty cured because I haven't heard about it in awhile. You can google (if you MUST google) a diet to kill candida. It's all over the place and ppl swear by it. Good luck!
