Just something I would like to share
« on: November 29, 2006, 09:14:14 PM »
Over the past 4-5 days I have been on the down side of things. I haven't been feeling that great. I am pretty sure it's time for a dosage increase, so I am seeing my psychiatrist tomorrow. I just wanted to share a quote with everyone. It makes alot of sense and holds alot of truth if you look deeply into the meaning.

"Our real blessings often appear to us in the shape of pains, losses and disappointments;
but let us have patience and we soon shall see them in their proper figures."
-   Joseph Addison

I interpret this quote as, suffering in life doesn't happen for nothing. There is something to be learned from every experience in life, whether it be good or bad. But I do believe that our REAL blessings do come from pain and suffering. The trick is to have PATIENCE. Patience will set us all free. If we just persevere through the tough times and be open to learning, we will all come out of this better and more refined human beings. My therapist told me that God BLESSED me with depression/SAD for a reason. And if it is in his plan for me to overcome this, then I will. If it is not, then it is not meant to be. So anytime anyone is really feeling down, just say to yourself, this is happening for a reason and God chose me to bear the burden. God Bless.

That is true.  When you get through it, you usually will end up being glad it happened, because it makes you a stronger person and learn more things.  But I just wish my suffering would take a freakin break for a few years.  When I got through mine a few years ago, I did feel much better for going through it.  But wow, this is tough.

ANyway thanks for posting.  It really is true.  But of course you have to find a way through it for it to be beneficial.  So that means don't give up, and I am close to giving up which I need to stop doing.  ahhhhh.

GMan,

Sorry you're not feeling very good right now, but hang in there you will be feeling better soon. I really like that quote, it reminds me that things aren't always what they seem, and there are many ways to look at the same thing.

Yeah hang on in there GMan you certainly sound like you are finding some answers.  I have heard a similar thing aswell about God sending us these illnesses because he knows we can cope with them etc.  I would certainly like to think I can learn something from all this.  I am actually going to work in the mental health sector when I have finished my degree specifically within the areas of mental illness which are on this forum.  I really think with my experiences I can offer something positve back to other sufferers, so maybe thats what God intended me to do!!

Gloomy that is wonderful. You are a great example of turning something that began as a bad thing, into something that can be productive. You will be able to help others because of your experiences in having these certain types of disorders  :happy0151:

Thanks for that GMan, everybody on here and their desire to find answers and help themselves and still make time to post such kind thoughtful reassuring messages to others who are suffering like them have helped me make my decision.  I started studying psychology to try and understand myself and my anxiety/depression. This forum has really enriched my life and has spurred me on to help as many people as I can.  Dont get me wrong I am not cured myself and still fight the fight everyday which I why I think somebody or something beyond my control has steered me towards professionally helping others.  So wish me luck all you guys in passing my exams. :yes:  Oh no the anxiety of exams ha haxx

 :happy0151: Good luck on all your tests. I am sure you will do fine. I am currently taking a psychology class in college. I love it. It is so interesting. I might be going down that path professionally as well.
