not full blown attacks but "moments"?
« on: November 12, 2009, 04:08:06 PM »
I have been getting better lately, but I have noticed that while full blown panic attacks have become rare, I still have what I would call "anxious moments" fairly often. Today, out of old habit, I took my pulse and decided it felt slow. I was taking it in my neck and I also decided it was skipping, but when I took it in my wrist I realized it was probably just feeling likes skips in my neck b/c it was speeding up when i inhaled and slowing down when i exhaled. Even so, I had some anxious/panicky minutes but not a full attack, likely thnaks to my meds.

Do others notice this happening to them? And, as always, should I be worried about my heart from what I described above? the fear of sudden death rears its ugly head again...

I've never felt a skip when taking my pulse at the wrist.  When I take it at the neck, I feel them more frequently.  I've wondered if it had to do with breathing, or they're just more noticeable since the pulse is stronger there.

An occasional pause is normal.

Do you find that sometimes you'll start checking your pulse without even thinking about it?  I try not to do it, but it's become such a habit that I do it without even thinking about it, whether I'm anxious or not.

I *knocks on wood* haven't had a full blown attack in months, however I do struggle with these "moments" on a daily basis. It's like I get myself to the brink, but don't go over the edge. It's annoying, but is definitely a positive step in battling anxiety!!

i have these moments! and sometimes wish i would just go into a full blown attack to get over it!!!! i havent had a panic attack in awhile just anxiety attacks but i hate these cos u can be stuck in one for ages!!! and as for checking ur pulse STOP it only feeds your anxeity i know its hard but im working on this at the min,  u feel miles better if u stop it, heres a tip if u check it quite often dont check it between the times of 12pm and 8pm see if u can do it!!! push ur self too!!! and checkin ur pulse in ur neck isnt accurate ne way u could be pushing on a big aetary wich could make it feel faster! ur wrist is the main place to check a pulse! but stp it ne way xx
