rectal bleeding
« on: October 13, 2009, 08:58:33 AM »

The last 3 days I've noticed blood on my underwear from what I thought was a hemmoroids but since googling it seems to be a symptom of you know what. It started a few days ago when I wiped, red blood on the toilet paper which is usually hemmoroids. But since then my bowel movements appear to be normal, however when I put some toilet paper up there I see small amounts of red blood. I am freaking. Any help or comfort would be greatly appreciated.

What makes you think that it is not a hemmoroid now? That sounds like an aggrivated one to me, if it was, you know what, you would have alot more symptoms than just a little rectal bleeding, which by the way can be the above or something else simple.

Google is evil...lol stay away!

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I went to my Dr. with that same issue a few months back.  My Dr. told me it was a telltale sign of hemmroids and that it is VERY common.  She assured me if it was you know what that I would have a lot more symptoms than a little bit of blood on the toilet paper.  Feel better and stay away from google!

What's scaring me is the bleeding in between bowel movements.  Does anyone experience this symptom.  How long does it last?

Hemmoroids can be irretated in between bowl movemoents, it not uncommon. If it is really bothering go to doctor, he will probably give you a cream to be used topically...no big deal....and you will feel so good once you have left!

If you have Hemorrhoids, they are typically accompanied by itching, bleeding and
burning sensations. A little blood on the toilet paper is usually nothing to worry
about. According to my GI Physician, all persistent rectal bleeding should be
investigated.

I've had rectal bleeding for 3 years. When I first went to the dr they said it was internal hemorrhoids but it keeps happening so I'm undergoing a whole new set of tests now. But my doctor has said that rectal bleeding is actually pretty common. It's most likely nothing to worry about. If it was something really serious you'd have other symptoms. Many things can be causing the bleeding such as heavy stress or not eating enough fiber or anal fissures. If it is really worrying you, you should visit the doctor. It's always a good idea to get something like rectal bleeding checked out but mostly because it will give you a peace of mind.
