XANAX - The Evil one
« on: September 30, 2009, 09:11:31 PM »
Hey guys.

For all of you taking this drug, be very..very…very careful! Xanax is only a short-term drug .
I have been on this for more than 1 year now, on 0.25mg daily. Although this is not a high dose, I have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms that is more severe than the panic attacks itself! Have been tapering of this for 2 weeks now and will still take another 2 months or so to be XANAX free.

Please guys, be careful when taking this drug. I have read many stories now of people who took it for years and more than 4mg per day. They all had severe withdrawal symptoms that lasted for months. Speak to your doctor about this and do some research about this drug. I know that is a very helpful drug in the short term, but a most evil villain in the long run  >:(

Take care

Nope, will go it alone for now, but if things get worse, I'll find a doctor that knows what he/she is doing. Will try some natural herbs after xanax, know it is not as potent, but at least it's saver.

I take xanax as needed. I have for about 2 years now. I can go months without or I could need it daily for a week or so. But I have NEVER taken the .25 to .5 up to 3 times a day like my script says.
Good luck. My Mom has been on .25 for like 22 years. She takes it every day.

You are pretty safe then if you only take as needed or 2 weeks maximum, you won't get addicted to the stuff.

You are lucky if you still get the good effect after several days...I wish to find the benzo that will be like that for me.

I only take Xanax once every other week or so if needed. I just posted a rant about it and had to take a peek in here. I personally know the withdraw symptoms of any other MAOI and I can tell you right now that those are the utmost horrific. I have never felt so uneasy, unmotivated, and completely miserable after taking Paxil and lexapro. That stuff is the worst.

The question is:  How do you distinguish between withdrawal and simply feeling the effects of NOT taking the Xanax.

I don't want to question anybody.  However, anxiety is, above all, a tremendous liar.  Our overactive, sensitive minds can convince us of just about anything.

With that said, what are the particular symptoms you are dealing with that convince you that you are specifically dealing with Xanax withdrawal?

Our minds are very sensitive, that is true! the symptoms mask itself as a lesser panic attack with headaches, nausea and increase in my heart rate. Usually one would think 'oh I need to take a larger dose of Xanax' but the Truth is that you have are addicted and experience withdrawal. My symptoms has gotten less and less and I will only take a high dose (1.5mg) when needed (that is about 2 time a month) taking it every day is not a good idea. The addictive properties of Xanax is high. Will go wit natural herbs to see how that goes. At the end of the day meds only takes care of your symptoms and is mostly not the cure.
