question about Seratonin Syndrome and Fluoxetine
« on: September 30, 2009, 12:19:01 PM »
Sorry to bring up the subject again.

Yesterday I went to work and missed my fluoxetine in the morning (I take 40mg daily).  When I got home I took a 20mg pill thinking (surely incorrectly) that it would be ok.  That was at 6pm.  Today I slept in and took my usual 40mg when I got up (around 11am), but the thought has entered my mind that taking that so close to the 20mg from yesterday could be bad news.

I think you can take, like, 80 mg/day and still be okay.

Ranger,

Serotonin syndrome happens almost immediately after taking the "extra" pill. If you were going to get it, you'd have gotten it by now and it would be obvious.

I'm not sure what the procedure is where you are, but in Vancouver the techs at the pharmacies are very happy to answer questions re: meds, etc. over the phone. So that could be an option if you want to talk to someone very knowledgeable.
