« on: August 25, 2009, 11:34:33 PM »

Okay, so here is the story..

call me crazy on this one but..

about once a month.. i will wake up from a dead sleep... seeing mostly spiders!
now i never use to have a fear of these little buggers but now i cant even look at a picture..
one night it was so bad where i woke up and i thought there was one on my pillow, so i jumped up and started crying, i woke up my spouse, and he turned on the light and checked and there was nothing there.. so thats it.. i wake up seeing my fear when its not really there.. now my spazzums are getting more frequent and i want help.. i just dont know what to do.. they scare me so much because i think there real when there not.. can anyone help me on this one? does anyone have a name for it?

Sounds like sleep hallucinations.

I get them too (usually involving swarms of bees). Happens just before you go to sleep or when you wake up. Your brain is dreaming while your body is awake.

They can be a side effect of narcolepsy (that's what causes mine).

Hope that helped a bit!

a lot of times our mind will create something we fear.  So I don't think it is unusual for this to happen.  I mean us hypo folks have all kinds of physical aches/pains as a result of fearing a particular disease.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I work in a produce department.  In 4.5 years, I've come across 1 mouse, 2 or 3 black widows, and 2 or 3 banana spiders inside of boxes.  A few other miscellaneous bugs and spiders but nothing that seemed too dangerous.  Needless to say, when I think about it, and worry about it, I literally FEEL little pricks or shocks in my fingers when I try to open banana or grape boxes.

It's amazing, the power of the mind.....
