Suddenly feel like you are going to cry
« on: August 18, 2009, 01:37:40 PM »
Does anyone here get like this where you'll be fine one minute and then the next you get into a panic over a thought an a loss of control ?  Then you get this real intense feeling like you are going to cry?

What do you guys usually do to better yourself in these situations?

That's another common anxiety/depression experience.  I don't really have depression, but I've had some random times where I felt like I could cry, and did.

Just cry it out for a moment if it makes you feel better.  Not much else to do really.

Like every anxiety problem, you have to try and remind yourself that it won't last forever.  Heck, it might not even last 15 minutes!  Just go with the flow, and relax as much as possible.  There is nothing to fear in feeling this way.

I've had this twice in the past couple months. While I didn't actually cry, I did feel pretty horrible for the entire day. Both times I felt completely fine the next day.

thanks guys ,

So would you say its more leaning toward the depression side of things or the anxiety side? Its steming from a constant dreadful thought that I have about the trip I have coming up to hawaii.  All of a sudden the mind will freakout and say , you can't do this , too much to handle ...  then that thought will take off just as fast but it will leave behind a gut wrenching feeling , sadness , and that crying feeling along with some fatigue.

Real depression lasts longer than a few minutes.  You're just stressed out from anxiety, and it overwhelms you on occasion.  It sounds like you've got some work to do before that trip though.  Are you afraid of the flight, or just the trip in general?

well lets see , it seems like I always get worked up like a week before I take any trip here in the past year (since quitting chew.) I actually LOVE flying but its the part about being up in the air and thinking about how I'm 1500 mi. on top of the ocean at any particular moment.  Knowing I may get sick and want to throw up.  Stuff like that...  I've been doing the exposures for travel anxiety like the road trips , then a 1 hr plane flight .. this will be the biggest length trip I've taken in a while.
