She's Vomiting Again
« on: August 04, 2009, 11:43:51 AM »
Well this isn't a hypo vent, and not really any other folder.  So here we are in the lounge.

Got a call from my daughter's day hab.  She is vomiting and can't balance again.  She did the wobbly walking on Friday but ended up having an okay day at Day Hab.  I called and all was hunky fine.  Usually when you see the wobbly walking, there is a med problem lurking.  She was fine all weekend.  She had a couple of minor seizures but fine otherwise.  I was grocery shopping and my son called and said that Lindsay was vomiting at day habe.   I called and my cell went dead so I had to run out to my car and plug it in.  At any rate she is vomiting with balance issues again.   I was 50 minute drive from there.  I called hubby and he is off to pick her up.  she should be here anytime now.

I've left a message for the doc.  IDK,  I just know it is the meds but an odd presentation being no vomiting for 6wks since the last one.  I'm going to suggest seeing what levels are in her blood.  At any rate that will be a start.

My poor kid.  It isn't like she doesn't have enough problems.    Here another worry for poo ole mom, too.  Hmmmm BEASTY what cha gonna through at me this time.   >:(  Whatever it is I'll make it, it's my poor daughter.

Okay VENTING is over.

she's home and on the couch.  Her legs are working okay.  She could walk without me holding her up.  No vomiting since arriving home.  She is now sleeping.

still waiting on the doc.

Hi Six,

This is your eldest? Poor girl, this really is the last thing either of you need. I'm really glad to hear that she's doing a lot better now that she's home- maybe the rest or the safe environment are providing her some comfort? Hopefully she just gets better and better.

The doctor will contact you soon and then you can hopefully put the worries in his hands. Oh beasty, going through family is such a low blow... :sad0126: You know where to find me if you need to talk, my friend!

thanks shrub

I did talk to our 'family' neuro.  So funny 4 of the 8 of us have seen him at some point ::)

He told me to drop one of her meds back to what she'd been a month ago.  I also suggested doing bloodwork to see where all of her levels were regarding her seizure meds.  He agreed wholeheartedly.  So he is mailing that script.

She lounged around on the couch.  She had a couple more dry type heaves.  I finally let her go upstairs.  Tonight I'll just give her tater tots and not the rest of the meal.  Then a bath.

My BEASTY's just given me a backache. And I can definitely handle that.   :goofy:

Well, hopefully a lower dose might be more beneficial anyways if her seizures were kept under control back then? I'm glad your neuro agreed to the blood work- he sounds like a caring guy. Maybe it was just a tummy ache from the extra meds floating around in her system then? I hope she has a great night full of tater tots and baths and loves and an extra good day tomorrow. I'll keep her in my thoughts!

I'm glad your beasty is staying in its place! (I thought we had a whipping emote but there's only 3 gun ones! Oh well.)

I think it is just her body must metabolize her food/meds differently from time to time.  She's been on this dosage for a month now.  Friday she had a wobbly bit of time after I gave  her her meds in the morning but then she was fine.  And no probs over the weekend.  IDK  I guess we'll see.  I just gave her the evening meds with the reduced dosage.  I'm keeping her up for a while tonight to make sure everything is okay.  Thanks for the support shrubby.

Ahahaha  :laugh3: I meant I wanted to whip the beasty to keep it quiet. But the only emotes we have to convey that kind of things involve guns, ha.

I hope the lower dose works! Keep us/me posted. ;D

hi amy

she has the vomits and balance stuff when her meds are too much for her.

She is 22.  She was born with a congential brain abnormality that causes global problems.  She has motor function issues on her left side, she is legally blind, cannot talk, and severly mentally disabled.  This abnormality also causes seizures.  Her seizures started when she was 12.  So we always are trying to get the seizures to stop.  Which is folly.  In honesty, she will always have breakthrough seizures.  We medicate here, of course, and manage the seizures the best as we can.

Thank you for the kind words.

We consider her quite lucky though.  Many folks with this abnormality have a trach, are tube fed and wheelchair bound.
