Hydrophobia not Aquaphobia

Hydrophobia - the fear of drinking liquids

Most People think that Aquaphobia and Hydrophobia are the same. But the only thing that makes then have any thing in common is the water factor.

I never know what was wrong with me and I have hide it from the world around me since I was around 17 years old. I though that every one had a fear of drinking water or other liquids. But after I got married 13 years ago, I notice that my husband would like to stop and buy some thing to drink. It did not matter if it was water or soda to him as long as he had some thing to drink. I then know that I was sick with some thing.. I looked on the computer and wrote a lot of blogs about my disorder, but never found what was wrong with me. I was to embarrassed to ask my doctor or people I know. Cause I thought that people would think that I was odd or just making stuff up. After searching for months on the web... I got my first break, some one told me that I am suffering with Hydrophobia. She talked me into speaking with my doctor about it, since it can cause damage to the body. But when I told my doctor about it, she told me that that was not a real phobia. So I went to my therapist and told her about it, she looked at me and told me that it is possible to suffer with this phobia. We talked about it and then she wrote it in my chart. And to my amazement.. the subject has never come back into play. I told her that I was worry about it and she told me that when my stress got under control, that my symptoms would go away. The symptoms will not go away, I have suffer with this disorder for over 18 years. I don't think that symptoms that last that long with just one day disappear on some one.. At least not these symptoms.
Has any one every had a condition that the doctors just brush it off as stress or it's all in your head. Please let me know.. I feel so alone

Doctors sometimes brush off things that they think are not important or
things that don't pose any danger to the patient. The important thing here
is that it bothers you. I would seek out a physician or therapist that will
take the time and effort to help you with your concerns.
