The more I read your posts, HAWK, the more I see that you and I have a LOT in common!! Sad, cuz I hate to hear someone else is dealing with it though! It's frustrating, I know! :dazed:

I do this all the time.. I think it's part of depersonalization. I mean, having anxiety takes up so so much of our brain power and just space, I think that's what causes us to kinda forget what we were saying or to forget things altogether.

I can't tell you HOW many times I've started a conversation with someone and just completely forgot what I was saying.. and just kinda stood there. It's soooo frustrating. I was worried for so long that I had alzheimers or something. It was scary. Honestly though, I realized that the more anxious I am, the worse my brain functions..

Maybe starting an anxiety journal like I did would help you?

I can totally relate to your post dude!
At times when Im talking to friends or just anyone in general, I seem to draw blanks. Sometimes as I talk, my afterward thoughts are "did that really just come from me", but I guess its a matter of depo or derealization.

I'm inclined to agree. HAWK I get a lot of the symptoms you experience. Your posts are pleasant to read because of your seemingly optimistic attitude

I think that many of us have a lot going on in our lives and this
can be overwhelming at times. This may cause us to lose our train
of thought and become forgetful. I think this is a pretty common
situation and I would not be too concerned about it.

Well put.

Our brain only has a finite amount of thoughts, feelings and ideas that it can entertain at any given time. Anxiety is quite the piglet and uses up a HUGE amount of our mental resources, often leaving very little room for anything else. I know that when my anxiety is very bad, my schoolwork will suffer unless I get it under control. But on a more mundane level, I'll get extremely forgetful. Like I'll forget if I said some particular thing a few minutes ago or whether I just thought it, I will forget names, what I did five minutes ago, etc.

Anxiety not only impairs the thinking process, but other important functions such as reading comprehension and learning/memory. Having an anxiety disorder while at school, for example, will most definitely hurt your GPA   :winking0008:
