WEIRD NIGHT!
« on: July 13, 2009, 10:20:45 PM »
Hello,ok so last night I was trying to sleep I was really tierd and I was not really feeling bad or anything. But when my mind started to fall asleep I noticed that I was falling asleep and bolted awake, after that it was kind of weird for like 2 hours it kept happening it was like my mind was self aware that it kept falling asleep and it would not let me!  Also I felt like I was in a dream the whole time but I was not asleep, like I was convinced in my mind from being in that state that I was dreaming but I just wasn't asleep!  It was like I was in another world or some other kind of state of mind. And there were times that I didn't even know were I was!   B-; :dazed:
Can anxiety do this or stress?

Also was this some kind of Sleep Paralysis or Hypnagogia?

Good day Hawk

There is a word for the jerking awake just as you fall asleep and it is very common most people get it at one stage

What happened after that i would say was just the way it worried you

Can anxiety do this or stress?

Your subconscience would be working on overload now and every time you get another weird symptom you will panic weather you are thinking about it or not

Dont really know but i am guessing that you were so worried about what happened you were scared to go to sleep but your tired body was fighting this

Have you got some good sleep since i last spoke to you ?

cheers kev

Hi Hawk

This gives some imfo on it

This strange falling sensation and muscle twitch is known as a hypnagogic myoclonic twitch or “Hypnic jerk” If this has happened to you on more than one occasion, don’t worry, you are not alone. Close to 70 percent of all people experience this phenomenon just after nodding off, according to a recent study at the Mayo Clinic.

I use to have something like yours but my body would just seem to get shock wave when i laid in bed but i havent had for a while now

Go with the flow and give it time  , your sleep should get better I still have nights

cheers kev

I had this happen to me during my first bout of anxiety. It started when I was about 75% asleep and noticed my snoring. I immediately woke up. It happened about four or five times after that until I fell asleep that night. The next night it didn't happen at all. I sort of equated it with being aware of the in between state of consciousness and sleep, which most of the time we're not aware of, but anxiety makes us aware of more things than normal. I wouldn't even give it a second thought, don't feed the fire.  :happy0151:

When i'm in and out of sleep weird things happen like my mind races with weird thoughts about me talkin to someone or I am a character in a tv show, and the weird thing about that is my mind thinks its real!  I also notice that if i'm thinking of a bird or some one saying something and other stuff that my mind makes me almost hear it,like my thoughts are loud!  And the sleep freeze thing were you can't move just makes me scared!  :sprachlos020: B-; :dazed:

I have all this stuff all the time,I wonder if its just stress or am I going crazy? ;*)
