Ty in advance by the way , your time + help is much appreciated!

Anyway here's the deal I'm not familiar with backaches at all so I don't know what to expect from them. So not knowing what is going on and having this unfamiliar pain has me freaked out a bit. Some brief history on the injury , I was doing alot of yard work yesterday some which included climbing up on my roof to clear some branches off. All that work is what has me thinking I pulled a muscle but I have no clue what to expect. The pain didn't start right away .. I woke up around 2am to use the restroom and when I got out of bed I noticed a few sharp pains when I would bend or lean certain ways. As if that's not bad enough I left my AC on all night so I seem to have given myself a cold = ( .  Anyway the pain is in the lower right and its very dull when I'm just sitting around but once I start to walk and move around it will get sharp. I think the reason I am worried is because when it aches it tends to radiate form the back around to the front. And being a chronic worrier due to the location I can't shake the feeling that it might be a kidney aching as odd as it sounds ha ha. I also did something very bad ... and hit google on back pains which then showed issues with the pancrease , gallbladder , and a few other friendly organs so that's what has turned this from a normal backache to me panicing and thinking ER trip.  Sorry if this seems odd and or funny to those of you that deal with back pains constantly but as I said I'm not familiar with ever having a backache so I'm a bit scared.

Tevv,

From the sound of it, you have probably strained a muscle. Back pain can radiate to the obliques, front, lower abdomen and groin area. I know from experience.

I started having back pain 3 years ago. The pain would start in my lower back and radiate to my sides, lower abs, and even my groin area. I went to the doctor (actually a urologist- I thought the pain was coming from my prostate). After a CT of my lower abdomen, back and groin, everything came back clear. The doc advised that my pain was soft tissue/muscle damage in my back. He suggested that maybe I get an MRI and learn to relax my back muscles. I started seeing a chiro about six months later. They were able to help with the pain (temporarily). I finally had an MRI of my lower back about 3 weeks ago (due to recurring lower back, ab and groin pain). They did find that I have a compressed nerve root somewhere along L4.

If you are not runnung a fever, throwing up, or experiencing severe pain around your pancrease or gall bladder, it is probably your back.

Sounds muscular related to me. Gallbladder pain is typically
felt under the right rib cage and pancreatic pain would be
very severe and you would have other symptoms. I would
not worry.

The fact that you are posting this on an anxiety forum suggests that you have/had issues with anxiety.

The fact that you are posting it in the health anxiety folder may suggest that you have a somewhat somatic personality type.

I am not sure if you are aware but the latest figures compiled from UK GP's suggest that up to 80% of back pain presentations have zero organic basis and are seen as somatic/emotional pain.  Even when an underlying organic explanation is found for back pain the pain experienced by the sufferer is very often totally out of proportion to the actual diagnosis.

Back pain has swiftly become the new ulcer.
