About the Farrah Faucett documentary........
« on: May 15, 2009, 05:50:42 PM »
Recently all the media has been talking about is Farrah Faucett and her battle with cancer.  Tonight NBC will be airing a documentary of her grueling battle with anal cancer.  I have been thinking of the people on this site and urge you guys to avoid watching this tonight.  I have seen clips of tonight's show and it made me cry and just feel awful so I've decided not to put myself through anymore sorrow and will watch Keeping up with Kardashians on ON Demand or something, seriously.

For those depressed--they will get more depressed
For those panicked and anxiety-stricken--they will most definitely get more panicked and anxiety stricken--believe me.

I don't think this story will be inspiring at all.  I think it will be a heart-wrenching, extremely sad story of a woman diagnosed with cancer that desperately does not want to die.....everyone's worse nightmare.

That's my opinion.

The other side of watching a story like that is that it can make us reflect on the precious life we have. It also reminds us that there's always someone worse off than us. It can also be really inspiring as we watch the power of the human spirit.

i watched it..and i was filled with anger at the media.  How dare they exploit her as she battles this?  I will never again buy one of those tabloids, and I encourage others to boycott them as well.  Celebs are people to, and people should remember that.

This poor woman will be in my prayers.

they just reran it on Oxygen today.  I watched it.  I'm not concerned about having this cancer.  However there are folks who should probably not watch if it is likely to scare them.

I agree the tabloids are just sickening.  I was at the checkout the other day.  One of the trash mags had Swayze on the cover talking about lung removal and the most hideously unwell looking pic I've ever seen of him.  It's just trash.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

Yep...the media glorifies illness and suffering.  I never buy into it.  I refuse to listen or watch all this crap.  There's enough suffering in this world, when I watch television I want to laugh and forget about my troubles for a while, you know?  I don't get why Farrah allowed this documentary in the first place??
