Hey Janey
Thats ok. Brain Lock is a pretty popular book as far as OCD goes, so you may well be able to find it in a bookstore. If not, you'd be able to get it on
www.amazon.com pretty cheap. Theres another one I just got too, "Imp of the Mind". Havent read it yet but it looks pretty good, and was recommended to me by my doc.
Im pretty new to therapy, but I find it helps to deliberately expose myself to situations that bring on the obsessing and compulsing. Like with contamination obsessions, you could try deliberately getting dirt on your shoes, or picking up a stone in the garden, etc. Its really hard at first, but Ive found it helps and you slowly desensitize yourself to it. I also found "delaying" a compulsion I perform by counting to ten or whatever in my head, and then gradually building up that time of delay, is quite effective. Its my "homework" therapy, or so they call it. Its good stuff though.
Good luck with finding a therapist!
