Abdominal Pain
« on: April 06, 2009, 10:28:25 AM »
Have you guys experienced this? When I suck in my stomach, it hurts. It feels like a gassy, bloated feeling sort of. It hasn't gotten worse in the last 24 plus hours. Do you think this is something I should worry about? I've felt like this before just not for this long. I know digestive symptoms are common with anxiety. Do any of you suffer like this? It's so strange! When is it something I need to worry about?

I've been going through some similar things for the past few weeks.  Mine all started  with seeing a snippet of the Doctors show.  And I just had my gyno appt days earlier.   :-*

I hate when I let myself get to feeling weird like this.

I keep vascillating about whether I should just call for another appointment or wait it out.

But, no, I don't think you are alone.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I suffer a great deal from excess gas/wind....when I had a scan done on my gallbladder the sonographer picked up on that that I was very bloated.  This is actually quite common amongst those with anxiety disorders as very often our breathing patterns are shot and this can lead to swallowing far more air than the average person.  The pain and discomfort that something as simple as this produces can often send the health anxiety sufferer into a tailspin of worry.  Remember, overbreathing is a chronic and insiduous condition and so are the side effects of it.
