ANXIETY BE GONE - personal tips made by myself
« on: April 02, 2009, 11:51:38 AM »
MADE BY MYSELF

First quote is: Sound
Listen to your surroundings. What do you hear? Are you breathing properly? Are you CLEARLY alive? Do you know who you are? What is your name? What’s your dog’s name? Do have something playing in the background? Listen to the radio; sing along if you need to.

Second quote: Warmth and body
Listen to your body. Can you feel your toes? Can you sit steady? If not rock “you” into movement; if your body can understand your mind telling you to move, your mind is working. Touch objects; name what the object is as you touch it. Teach your brain to work again. Your worries don’t matter if you don’t know what you’re worried about. Touch things and say what they feel like. What do these textures remind you of? What can you smell? Put perfume on and smell yourself. Is it a nice smell? Smelling shampoo can help to. Knowing your body is also key. Try also if these don’t work to splash water on your face or washing your face.  Even putting a heating pad on your tummy will soothe you (especially if nauseated)

Third quote: Strength and Love
What keeps you strong? Who do you love? Think about who you love. What are some things I do with them? What things in the future do you see doing with this person? What’s important to you? If you have a child think about your child’s smile. Think about all those good things going for you. Think about happy things. What do you like? Do you like the smell, of a new book or a nice cherry pie?

Fourth quote: Future
What goals do you have? Do you want to own something? Do you have a child you want to see in your future? Think about what you have to do tomorrow. List it all off and remind yourself what you have to do tomorrow over and over and remind yourself that those things aren’t important right now. If you’re worrying about something you have to do tomorrow, may I suggest not doing that? If that is the case repeat quote two and three and then count to ten.

thanks and yeah its more or less meditation. I see it as fooling your brain and learning to just not be anxious.

I truly believe that I really don't have anxiety. I feel that I'm moving forward from this whole deely.

i found with my anxiety i never really had a trigger accept th fact of not knowing what was next.

New things dont scare me anymore... once I gave birth it just kinda "poof" left.
