colon/rectal cancer fears - help!!
« on: April 01, 2009, 06:48:51 AM »
Hey guys, I haven't written in a while because I have been doing pretty well for the past month or so. but then I started getting these wierd twitches in my stomach (kind like a baby kicking but I am definitely not pregnant) and my anxiety came back full force. They were sorta on the right hand side by my ovary, but also low down in the middle, right where my large intestine is. I also had thin stools and slight constipation/change in bowel movement. My stools have varied since (this was about 2 weeks ago). Now I have a rectal itch, which I read (I know, I shouldn't have googled!!)can be a symptom of rectal cancer or colon cancer. I am really freaking out. My grandmother had colon cancer and I know it can run in families. I am only 25, not overweight and do exercise regularly but I just keep thinking the worst case scenario! Please help!!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm going through the same thing right now .  My thing is I just went to the gyno end of Feb and checked out and even had the rectal exam.  A week later I started worrying about this.

I have a lot of what you are feeling.  If your rectal area is itchy, you could have hemmoroids and/or stressing to make poos come out can make you itch too.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I'm sorry that you are also going through this - it's such a nightmare to be so focused on stools!! I'm not struggling to go to the bathroom. like not stressing to go.. and also, my stools are inconsistent, like sometimes they are thin and sometimes they are loose etc. I don't think I have hemorrhoids... My dad thinks I have worms and gave me some garlic and apple cider vinegar, but of course i just always think the worst. And any isead about the twitching in my abdomen??
