making decision
« on: March 27, 2009, 10:02:47 PM »
How do I deal with horrible reaction to a certain decision. I have an adopted dog and want to adopt a second dog. I spend all my spare time looking for one and as soon as I find one and plan on meeting it I go into panic mode and imagine everything awful that could happen. So then I cancel meeting it or on the rare occasion that I have met it I turn it down. Then I cry my eyes out and hate myself but must admit there is an immense sense of relief from the fear. I am meeting a dog tomorrow that is everything I have been seeking and I was so excited and happy this morning but as the day wore on I became so anxious and I know tonight will be bad B-; I am not on meds as normally my problem is not what I would call a bad one and I can use deep breathing and herbs etc to get through and on occasion a tranquilizer if I am in a bad state of panic. Any words of advice? I hate to give in to this fear and let the panic win again  I was this way over the dog I have now but everything went well and I love him so much and know that I can love another dog too. anneh

Do not give in to your fear.  You said you were the same way over the dog you have now and look how it turned out - you have a wonderful dog that you love.   If you want another dog, and you have the time and love to give it, then go for it.   You need to do things that will make you happy, and if this is it then you need to do it.  Live in the moment and don't worry about what tomorrow might bring.
