Hey everyone! Posted a while back about this random stomach pain I was having on the right side. It is just below my rib cage closer to the center of my abdomen..though a little off-center leaning towards the right. Went to the ER in January thinking possible appendix issue since I'd lost my appetite and felt slightly nauseous (though didn't throw up). Had blood work done and abdomen C-scan, came back clear.
Went to follow up appointment with primary care doctor, he took some blood tests to see whether I had the bacteria that is known to cause ulcers...came back clear. He thought possible gastritis or maybe a pulled muscle??
Thing is, is that this subtle pain has been around for about three months--- sometimes it is worse than others, though mainly tolerable. It hasn't been severe enough to warrent major concern, and it has been checked out by doc and ER visit. So, why is is still around??
Wondered could this be IBS? I've had (sorry to be explicit!!) bouts of the runs vs. constipation on and off now for about two or three years, with periods of normal movements. These past few months I've been completely regular...so I am at a loss. I notice it is a bit worse after I eat, though nothing excruciating, and as I've mentioned, I haven't been physically ill (thrown up), nor have I had blood in the stool (again, so sorry!)--
But cannot imagine what this subtle, yet annoying pain could be? I should mention that I do get some heartburn from time to time, and am definitely a bit gassy after eating, as well as I feel bloated. Though I cannot imagine a gas pain to last all day?? Sometimes I hear something churning or gurgling in that area too, if that helps at all. I am just trying to get out all of the facts, so that if anyone can shed some light on this phantom pain, that'd be awesome!
The doc says he wants me to try prilosec (which I haven't tried yet..) to see whether that helps. If it doesn't he wanted to do a scope down the throat...which I am not into the idea of. I mean, if I have to, okay...though it seems like where the pain is, it'd make more sense to do an ultrasound. I still wonder whether I could have IBS, as I've heard of these types of symptoms associated with it. I also wonder whether it is a bit worse lately because I am paying it too much attention.
Sorry for the long post!! If you have any thoughts, I'd appreciate it so very much.
