Are Stress and Hypochondria symptoms directly related?
« on: March 12, 2009, 11:49:57 AM »
I've had a big stressful project at school this week and a pinpoint pressure/pain in my head has come back in these last few days. I am always worried about brain tumors/aneurysms, and every once and a while this syptom flares up, but I don't have others .I haven't been sleeping my normal amount either. Sometimes I worry that the stress could be causing actual medical problems, but then I think about the fact that it has come back during a stressful time and not when things are okay, so I am less worried.

Do pinpoint/pressures and pains in the head, not one sided by like a specific spot (i.e temple)  relate to stress. Maybe neck issues?

Thanks,
Jack

I'd say definitely true. Stress often causes our bodies to tense up, which can cause all types of random pains. Also I have read that stabbing pains or like a shooting pain in certain spots of your head can be linked to anxiety too. Stress itself can't really cause a lot of medical problems, I think over time stress can wear down your immune system which can lead to infections and things like that, but I doubt it can cause tumors and aneurysms. I think people would be dropping like flies if it did. Stress can do a lot of weird stuff to your body, but overall I don't think it's anything to worry about and it should go away when your situation becomes less stressful.
