head pressure
« on: September 13, 2006, 03:12:10 PM »
Do any of you get a feeling of pressure on the top of your head? I've been feeling it for the past couple of days, and so of course I'm worrying about brain tumors and hemmorages. I also have a pressure in the tops of my inner ears - kind of like the sensation you feel on a plane, but it isn't going away. I'm hoping its a sinus thing, or an anxiety thing, but I don't know... reassurance, anyone?

I definitely get the inner ear pressure sometimes -- I think it's sinus, because I tend to get allergies in the spring and fall. The other place I tend to feel pressure is in the top of my forehead. I usually attribute it to stress, anxiety or even looking at my computer screen for too long. For me, it could be any of those things at any given time.

One of my mom's friends is a nurse. Years ago, when I was worried about a possible brain tumor, she told me, "Believe me, if you had a brain tumor, you'd be having a lot more problems than what you seem to be having." So, when I start to worry too much, I try to keep that in mind.

Hey, I was having the exact same thing and had to go to the doctor. I ended up having a sinus infection. I didn't have drainage or anything but the pressure in my head and ears. Even my eyes felt like they could pop out. Now I'm just having massive jaw aches. Get some Mucinex-D.

I am having this "pressure" in my head right at this moment. Mine is on the top, temples, ears, forehead, eyes, and sinus areas. I have a feeling it's seasonal allergies, but then the "spacey" feeling that always accompanies these symptoms, is giving me anxiety and my tummy has been acting up for the past few days. I've lost 3 pounds from the innability to eat more than a piece of bread and vitamin shake eachday (NOT COMPLAINING!). I am ready to get back to the"norm" now.. I always feel as thought I am losing my mind when this happens. What sucks the most, is that I cannot take antihistamines or decongestants because they wire me and give me panic attacks! Good luck with the pressure thing. If you are able, try some allergy meds before calling the doc? It might just be the allergies?? Take care.

Thanks for the replies- I'm feeling somewhat better now, though my nose, ears, and upper head still feel stuffy. If it doesn't get better in a few days, I'll see a doctor. At least I don't think it's anything too serious, although I still worry when I feel a bit lightheaded. I'm terrified that I'll start feeling dizzy, which I asasociate exclusively with brain cancer. But you guys have been helpful - and I hope you start feeling better, Emily.

I have this alot! Is it really sinus issues? I`ve always thought it`s about stiff neck muscles.

What symptoms sinus infection can do?

Allergies and sinus infections can cause a lot of symptoms...

headache, pressure, toothache (referred pain), tiredness, discharge, post nasal drip, lung infections, low grade fever

take a decongestant, pain reliever....I have had good luck with Tylenol sinus...

bynadryl works well too... i take half a dose...a whole dose may make you rather tired...

also if this is an ongoing problem  buy the Grossan Hydro Pulse nasal irrigator... works wonders... search for it on google... it saved me from sinus surgery
