I want to try coming off klonopin. Please advise. Should I?
« on: March 07, 2009, 01:49:15 PM »
This is more about if I SHOULD rather than how (but any advice on that is still appreciated)

I asked my pharmacist how I could do this-- I take .25mg of klonopin 3 times daily. They said I'd be fine starting out by taking just 2, one in the morning and another later on in the afternoon, they said something around 4:30 if I take it in the morning.

I started taking it 3 times daily because my doctor suggested it would help since I was still feeling anxious by only taking it as needed.

But to be honest, I'm at a point now where I feel anxious in places I feel anxious and while taking it 3 times daily, I don't feel I'm getting the benefit, if there ever was one.

I have a lot of problems in the mornings at work, for some reason I feel really trapped but after lunch and coming back I feel perfectly fine.
For me, that is what concerns me as when I take my dose, sometimes I'm still anxious but if I'm having a BAD morning with the anxiety, I'll just take an extra HALF dose and that settles me down right away. Its in other areas too but with work that concerns me more (other places being while with people or at dinner, etc.)

Here's my concern though, is that method only working because I take it 3 times a day and have a certain "flow" of it in my body? Or do you suppose it's a small enough dosage that it probably doesn't matter?

Does it only work for me NOW the way that it does because I take it 3 times daily or does that not really matter?

I also see a therapist whom is extremely helpful, have been seeing her for a month now and have made progress but still have anxiety in my areas.

I just really want to come off of the klonopin. I want to do things that help me feel like i can put it behind me. But I'm also afraid of it hurting me by doing so, like not being calm.
I don't really feel much different after I take it to be honest. Or maybe I do, I don't really know. If I am having a BAD morning, an extra half dose does it for me. Maybe the klonopin isn't doing much on its own or something anyway?

I don't really know what to do, I want to get over this anxiety, I would love to try to stop taking the klonopin.

Thanks for any advice!

your pharmacist's opinion was probably correct. your not taking that high of a dose and your clearly not psychologically dependent on it so you'll probably be fine.

But should I? Would I become more anxious only taking it twice a day?
Right now I kind of feel like I did before I started taking it 3 times a day... I just want to be more confident on that end too, I'm going to be trying this today. Taking my second dose later on.
Thanks!
