Anyone here on Disability
« on: February 26, 2009, 04:54:59 PM »
After reading the other post about people having panic at work....It got me thinking...

during my last Psych appointment,  My Dr. asked me how I was doing at work and how it was effecting me.  I work 12 hour shifts over 1 hour away from home.  I get very nervous on the way to work and just constant anxiety during the day at work.   He asked me if I would be willing to go on short term disability.   My company provides this as a benefit to their employees but will I be targeted to be fired afterwards?  I am affraid that they will single me out and lay me off.  The economy is not so well but then again neither am I.....

I was diagnosed with PTSD,  panic disorder with agoraphobia and GAD..

I'm currently on medical leave of absence from my job, I'm an RN in labor and delivery so have to deal with a lot of stress and decision making.  I want to be feeling a lot better before I return, sometimes though I think that sitting at home can make me obsess more aout my thoughts.   Anyway re garding your situation, I don't know if that would be discrimatory to lay you off because of an illnesss. I wouldn't worry and just get well. That's what I'm doing.
Hang in there.
