OCD and a friend
« on: September 07, 2006, 11:03:19 PM »
Hi all..I'm new here. I'm here because I have a friend with OCD. It has gotten to the point that almost no one visits her anymore., She is so alone and depressed and its breaking my heart. She also has no money as she can't work outside the home. I help her out with her bills but it is becoming a real burden for me. She is so appreciative of anything I do for her. Please, please does anyone else that has this problem work from home? I'm trying to help her to find some work with her computer. Are there really any good and safe ways for her to start a home business and earn some money. Thank you for any advise you can give me.

Hi Silkenmist,

First of all you sound like a fantastic friend!! Good on you for helping your friend.

I live in Australia and here you can claim disability benefits from the government (i haven't looked into what sort of benefits for OCD sufferers or similar) Maybe she could do some sort telemarketing job from home. You could look into that. Does she see a therapist or is she on any medication for her OCD? You could even tell her about this forum, it may help her a bit. I was only diagnosed about 5 months ago and am only learning about OCD myself.

I hope she gets the help she needs and she is so lucky to have a friend like you. If you need to chat anymore please don't hesitate.
