Always been analytical so questioning all the time
« on: December 24, 2008, 03:21:51 AM »
Hi, i have been reading some helpful posts on this forum but i have always been analytical and am wondering why i am so scared of a thought that part of me knows is irrational yet when it comes it feels so real, what makes us almost believe thoughts that are bizarre? and also i read that if we let them be there the mind gets bored and they go, then i question , where do they?, do they disappear and where do they disappear to?  Another thing i have noticed is that if they do go for a short period it feels kind of odd and then i realise i haven't thought it for a while and back it comes, like i've done it to myself, how can i stop doing that.  When anxiety leaves us and we are calm do these thoughts go away, i'm so scared that they won't even when i'm free of the anxiety, thanks for your help, best wishes, Carol.

Agreed- are you talking about a specific thought or group of thoughts you're obsessing over, or just the general cyclical loop of thoughts you described?

Well I suppose that calling it bizarre is not really a clear representation of said thought as we tend to twist things, but any thought that you feel is intrusive enough to warrant such fuss should be directed to your mental health physiciian :-)

Hi, yea i told my doctor who specialises in anxiety disorders. He didn't bat an eyelid at the thought, said he wasn't concerned about me as it is an anxiety driven thought and will go when the anxiety goes. I suppose i was just surprised at what the mind could conjour up as i've never experienced anything like it in my 47 years.
