Is to much sleep bad for you?

I have been sleeping so much.When i wake up its hard to stay awake and then when im finily awake my anxietys start so i take my pills only to get very sleepy again:( anyone have problems like this?

I would worry more about it being bad for me emotionally and psychologically rather than physically. You can't live your life like that. I mean really, what is your fear that triggers your anxiety? From your post and where you posted it I would say that it is death... your main fear I mean. What is the opposite of death? LIFE. You don't even have one of those at this point. You've got to face your anxiety at some point and though drugging yourself to the point of not feeling it is appealing, it's not a long term cure. What kind of meds are you on? Are you seeking any help i.e. counseling?

Sleeping to avoid anxiety is not the answer.  It's like trying to hide from a school bully -- it doesn't work.  Face the bully though and said bully probably starts looking for someone easier to pick on.

i take ativan and kolapam and i feel like crap i have a talk doc and one for meds,right now i see so many doctors,i dont worry about death and going crazy so much that im scared almost 24/7

i know my doctor told me once that sleeping to much makes you're brain overtired, but staying up too much makes you overtired as well. where's the medium!?! i'm not so sure there is one. maybe put yourself on a different sleeping schedule? i know it can be difficult to just change it, but maybe sleeping for a certain amount of time, then getting up and doing something to keep your mind going. because when you're sleeping, your mind really isn't being productive. then taking your pills and if you get sleepy, take a small nap. power naps are always a great thing! :) and it's been said that power naps tend to make you more alert and focused throughout the day.  :yes:

I slept so much during the first period of my anxiety, partly hoping everytime Id wake up I would be feeling better, NOT!

It took some courage to get help and I am glad i did.

Stick with your therapist and your Pshyc Dr. it takes time, and I know that its hard to deal with.

Yes, I'd say too much sleep is bad for you. It's a good sign that you are not coping with what's going on when you are awake. My Mother sleeps about 18 hours a day and says everything is just dandy, I disagree.

It's a vicious cycle when you are taking meds that make you sleepy, but there are alternatives.
