Weird feeling in my left side when I lay on my right side.
« on: December 02, 2008, 10:19:49 AM »
I don't know what this is, but I've noticed it the past few nights.  When I lay on my right side, I can feel something weird in my left side.  It's not painful, it just feels like there's something stuck in there.  I don't know if it's muscular, or one of my organs.  It's a little above my hip.  I don't think I feel any lumps or anything there.

The bottoms of both rib cages are sore.  Not sure if it's related.

I freak out alot about sensations like that.  I have been having a number of them lately as my anxiety has been acting up.  One thing I try to tell myself is that if it just feels funny, but isn't painful, it probably isn't a problem.  Although I often have trouble convincing myself of that.

Can you pinpoint the  location of the sensation very precicely, or is it too vague?

Whatever you do, don't get in the habit of poking at it...
I had a little spot between my ribs and my right hip that felt ... weird...  I can't explain it... but between poking at that, and my normal OCD poking to check for tummy tumors, I've aggravated a whole lotta scar tissue... it's caused great amount of pain and now I have to go to physical therapy 3 to 4 times a week.  And the pain may never completely go away.  I was already having scar tissue issues from an abdominal issue, then had to have my gall bladder out.   Poking and prodding made it much worse.   If it's bothering you, go see your doctor and let them know if you haven't already.  Since I'm not an MD of anything and I am a cancer survivor, I never tell people not to worry about bumps and such unless they've already had it checked out.  So anyway, if your doctor says it's fine, believe it, but let him know if it feels differently than it used to.... it could be muscle related.  Especially on your right side if you're a right handed person who uses a computer a lot....  My PT said that's most of her caseload... too much time spent at the computer, not enough time moving our bodies like they're made to move...

I tend to worry about every little odd sensation.  Even when it's not painful and just feels strange.

I can't feel anything with my hand when I touch it, I just feel it in my side.  It's weird.  It's on my left side and I'm right handed, but I use my left foot on the clutch when I drive, and I always have my left arm tensed up when I drive.

I definitely don't move as much as I should, and am at the computer all day.  That could be the cause of a lot of my problems.  Now if I could only get over my fear of exercise!

How ironic to be scared of death, when what you are living is a form of just that.
