Lexapro and Suicidal Thoughts?
« on: October 11, 2008, 02:44:20 PM »
Hey all I'm back. I'm sure no one remembers me but a few months back I was having a bad anxiety relapse then went on lexapro and wellbutrin to help.  Well looks like the Lexapro did more harm than good. It eased my anxiety for about 2 weeks or maybe it was the placebo effect since my best friend was on the same dose I was and was feeling a lil better.  I started off with 10mg of Lexapro and 150mg of Wellbutrin. I've taken Wellbutrin before and have had no ill effects from it in the past.  Lexapro on the other hand was entirely new to me.  Towards the end of the first month or so I started having extremely bad suicidal thoughts.  Granted I had some stress in my life but nothing that warrented suicidal thoughts.  This went on for about 5 days then I saw my doctor and asked him to up my dosage to 20mg just in case that was the problem.  The thoughts kinda went away but for some reason my anxiety decided to kick back in...

I quit Lexapro cold turkey 3 days ago or so. Of course I have the headaches, dizzy spells, lightheadedness, wanting to always keep my eyes shut, nausea, and brain tingling but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this with Lexapro (concerning the bad thoughts).  Also is there anything wrong with quitting it cold turkey?  Are these nasty side effects better than suicidal thoughts and anxiety?

To combat my anxiety in the meantime I've gone back on Zoloft, which is the only drug that has ever helped me but can't stand the sexual side effects.  I go back to my doctor in about 2 weeks so I hope to get a new anti anxiety drug.  Maybe Celexa?

So I guess along with the Lexapro side effects concerns can anyone tell me good/bad experiences with Celexa?

Thanks for reading.
