Things to help
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:35:52 AM »
I don't take any medicine for my panic attacks, but I was just wondering if anyone has any alternatives that seem to help your anxiety/panic attacks less often or shorter, etc.  I have quit drinking caffeine since I heard that can make them worse....also alcohol.  I would like to start excercising though--seems like that might help--I bet yoga would be a great help!  Any other things that work or have helped you?

i take meds for my attacks, but find that cognitive processes can really help...  and this may seem a bit pedestrian, but wikipedia has a really great entry on panic attacks, with some nice information and coping techniques.  you can find it here..

also, i used to meditate daily, and learning to slow your mind down REALLY helped me!  it kind of grounds you to the present.  hope that helps!

so far i found out breathing techniques help. When i have a major panic attack i have to take a xanax. I only been using breathing techniques for a few weeks. My therapist is teaching me more techniques every week.

These things help me...walking the dogs, self-affirmations, telling myself that it will pass, and most of all my faith.

Hi! Okay so i have been on 3 different anti-depressants as well as buspar and klonopin. I started taking B Complex Vitamins every day about 2 months ago. I don't have anxiety anymore...  My brother also suffers from anxiety, and my mom and we all take B Complex Vitamins now. IT IS AMAZING. Doesn't taste so good but i would take anything to get rid of anxiety. I read about the benefits in a book that i HIGHLY recommend, The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook. I swear it changed my life. Feel free to email me if you have any questions! jenelled143@0201.
